The spirit of love
you don’t have to look for –
you don’t have to cross oceans,
you don’t have to follow a distant star.

doesn’t advertise itself loudly in the news.
The spirit of love can’t be found
by reading books on the spirit of love.

The spirit of love
is much more intrinsic than that:
Since it’s so simple and gentle,
love can sometimes seem so very hard to find.

The spirit of love
isn’t about proving anything –
It’s just about being, as easy as that,
gentle in your life, in your place and time.

The spirit of love
may not look like or feel like
what you want it to be. In fact,
it could be as simple as a willow tree.

So better stop looking
‘cause there it will be found
as you do what you need to
in the life
that life has given you.
