Thank you for my brokenness,
Thank you for my pains,
Thank you for the sacred memories
that run through my many brains.
Thank you for forgetting me,
Or so I sometimes think;
Thank you for remembering me,
And not giving me what I thought I need.
Thank you for the lessons,
Tough and challenging to boot;
Thank you for the nothingness,
Darkness and the void; zero and the root.
Thank you for the rainbows
That live within my heart –
Connecting me body, mind and soul
To those with whom I am apart.
Thank you for the solitude,
My favorite times and space;
Thank you for the great creation
Of the human race.
Thank you for nothing,
For things just as they are –
Broken, bound, and fettered,
Sometimes seemingly so far from the stars –
Until that moment when we find those stars
In rivers, rocks, and streams
That bloom with crimson love
From seeds within the heart of dreams.
